Special Bond

Today my photo shoot was not one of my normal ones. I was asked to capture a generation photo for a family who's mother was going through some pretty serious medical problems. I was told don't expect a smile and that all they really wanted was just one photo of them all together. The mom suffers from a condition to where she was unable to stand or sit straight or really have any movement at all. I had a lot of obstacles to work over and was ready to accomplish getting over them. As I sat snapping several shots, I picked up on so much love that was in that room. I realized that their was such a special bond that was between a mother and her two daughters that carried down to their own children. I was so lucky to have been able to be there and give them something to always be able to reflect on. Today was amazing and showed me unconditional love and that anything is possible, even a smile when its not expected! After I sent over the link to the sisters, they both were overwhelmed with joy and tears running down their face. They were so happy with how they turned out and completely surprised that I was able to capture exactly how their family was.

Bellingham Slam Dance Team

The Bellingham Slam Dance team needed some new pictures for there website and advertising so I was able to follow them around during a game and get some great shots. We ended up being a little rushed, trying to get about 20 girls all ready at the same time was a little harder then they thought. They were all really good and the games are so much fun to attend. Polselli Family

This last past weekend I had my first studio appointment here in Washington. I was so excited to shoot the Polselli family! Their little girl was sick so they almost canceled but I talked them into trying at least a few shots to see what we could get. I managed to get a few really good family pictures in. This was there first time getting family pictures and I think I was able to really capture some great moments! Here are just a few shots that were my favorite. One of the shots Amara has the meanest look on her face! With her being sick she didn't like the camera at all! Every time she would hear the click she would give me this face that was just priceless! Thank you Polselli family for allowing me to capture your family!

In my daughters eyes

At the time of this picture, Kaleigh was really focused on which game she was going to play first at Chuck E Cheese. As I sit here now looking at it, the song from Martina McBride comes to mind. In my daughters eyes, so much of her song reminds me of Kaleigh. Whenever I am really down and just in the dumps all I have to do is look into her eyes and I am reminded of why I am here on earth. On how life really isn't that bad and how all the darkness can simply just turn into light. She has really given me strength in so many ways to make my life better. When I look into her eyes I do see a reflection of myself. I see how much potential, courage, strength, wisdom, character, sweetness, forgiveness, all bundled up inside. It really is such an amazing feeling to be a mother.

Making the best out of this snow

Recently I traveled back to my home state of CO and realized that here in WA we don't get very much sunshine. As soon as I was off the plane the sun was hitting me straight in the eyes! This last past weekend we had a little snow storm and we were stuck in all weekend long. At first I sat and thought to myself, if I was back in CO I wouldn't have to deal with this snow. Then it hit me that why am I sitting here thinking so negatively when I can be out enjoying what the snow has to offer me. So Kaleigh and I snowed in on Monday adventured out to our patio. We didn't have very much snow up there but it was enough for Kaleigh to build her first snowman! We spent a few hours outside and had so much fun. Of course its not fun playing in the snow unless you get to eat it too.

Website up and running!

So after about a month of playing with different servers and designing sites and then starting all over because I didn't like them. I have finally found one, stuck with it, and love it! CrystalKayphotography.com!!! Yeah so now that its finally up I am going to really start to advertise and push to get my business up and running here in WA. I am also going to try and start blogging a lot more often. On a lot of my digital scrapbook sites they are all doing this 365 day challenge. I don't think I can take a photo everyday and blog about it but I am going to try really hard for once a week. So look for a new photo up and updates on how everything is going soon!

Starting a website!

Wow so I have been doing photography for some time now and always had word of mouth referrals. Now since we have moved its a little harder to start my business when you don't know anyone! So I have decided to try and do a website, wow has that been a great little adventure. So to sum everything up I still don't have one that I love! I do have a domain name Crystalkayphotography.com but its not really how I want it. So now I am looking at different sites that can help me get what I want. I hope that it all comes together soon because I really want to get back to what I love doing!
